I have a girls’ group that was made for girls’ quality time and sharing our beautiful friendship. Most of us (four) are in our mid 40’s and each of us lived and is currently living as a good wife, mom and hard worker. If any of you are in our age, you might already know what I wanted to say here. We started to realize that we are missing “ourselves” in our lives. I’m not talking about the midlife crisis. It is more like finding
And most importantly, we didn’t want to add more regrets in our diaries.
So guess what? We decided to try new/old things. Not things as in traveling to Africa in an air balloon or going to Australia for the highest bungee jump. Those are things we pushed back with excuses and now regret. Pushing them back further would only create more regrets. We already booked tickets for a piano concert and a musical which we couldn’t make after we got married and had kids. We are planning a one night/two days Chicago trip this summer (Yay… first time staying in a hotel with “friends”) and more exciting events and plans to come.
We already had a few gatherings at fancy restaurants, and every time we met, we all got dressed with the best wardrobe from our closets. And this time, we wanted to have a girls’ night out party, but with the current situation, we had to adjust it to a girls’ day in party. 🙁
I wanted to make this party fun and cute like we were teenagers because back then we couldn’t throw or imagine this kind of party in Korea. If you know how kids study in Korea, you would understand what I mean.
Anyway, back to the party, I bought purple pearlized balloons and curly ribbons/clips from a Party City store. I wanted to buy the helium gas to make balloons float on the ceiling, but unfortunately, only online purchase was available. I literally blew all the balloons because the small cheapy balloon blower did work but not well and I didn’t have patience.
I also bought some pink flowers to make our party girly.
I also cut the craft papers heart shaped for decorations and black paper mustaches for the straws.
For food, I prepared fruit parfaits for the appetizer, two kind of fondues (cheese and chocolate) and meatball sliders for main, bacon wrapped dates/stilton cheese inside, pigs in blankets, mozzarella/basil/tomato salad for sides .
For drinks, I prepared Margarita/ lots of sliced fruits, wines, and sparking juice.
Later, my husband was nice enough to make some spicy tuna hand rolls for us. It was a big hit!! Thanks, honey. Sorry, no pictures. 🙁
For dessert, I prepared coffee, tea with some sweets.
I asked my husband to hang up the balloons along the chandelier above the table. It could be less enjoyable to work with the big ladder in such a narrow space, but he was happy to do it and was humming through the work. He is a such a good man.
Last but not least, the music that my younger son downloaded for me. The soft pop music made our party so flawless and the guests all loved it.
Good friends, delicious food, flowers and music… The party couldn’t be better!
I had a great time with my girlfriends. I was soooooo happy to make them and me a good memory. I’ll throw parties more often for my family and friends from now on.
Never too many photos, right? Here they are!
