Finally I’m in the action. It is s-l-o-w but I’m getting there.
This humid and hot summer like weather (Is it summer?) really bothers me to move fast and finish the project quickly. I know it has been a while after I declared to do my master bedroom and would post as many as before’s and after’s.
I didn’t finish the room yet to show off to you guys, but, there is an progress and want to share with you today.
First of all, I bought a tempurpedic memory foam mattress set from a local furniture store. The mattress has been having a good reputation with the comfortableness and many of my friends recommended to buy one for my back pain that was caused I believe by the old, shaggy mattress. I tried it at the store and I liked it. Who will know if a mattress is right fit or not to one with the 10 min try, anyway? So I trusted many good reviews and testimonials of my people. My review? I need to confess that I still have a back pain but it is much less and I ‘m having better sleeps.
A new mattress, finally.
This mattress was the perfect size in relation to my window. This window is adjacent to other houses so I decided to put the headboard by the window for privacy. However I need to give up the airy feeling, so I’ll see which works better for me later.
Oreo was the one who tested the mattress and he approved.
Next, I headed to Pottery Barn Outlet where I avoided going there for 2 years. You will probably know why. It is a lot of fun going there and shop, but hard to resist to leave the store with empty hands. but for this time, it was time to play millionaire inheritor. I wished me a good luck with my fingers were crossed. These are what I came home with.
How cute is this side table? I was planning to buy two mirrored dressers or two white dressers/side tables, so I can get rid of my old dresser and chest from my bedroom. However, they didn’t have the dressers that I wanted, but this side table looked good to me so I took the two of them with me.
The headboard!!! As you might know, a cal king size bed is not so popular, so I didn’t have my hopes so high in finding a headboard that I liked and that was the right size. Among the many beautiful queen sized headboards, look what I found! A cal king size linen tufted headboard!!! I asked a sales associate to put the mirrored side tables beside the headboard to see the look. Good!!
I also bought a pair of light blue velvet drapes. They’ll give a subtle color addition to my very natural color schemed bedroom.
Two frames that are not in the best condition. However, they were a good price, so I took both of them. I’ll try to remove the black stains and if I can’t, I can always just paint them white. Itsy bitsy.
Lots of pillows and duvet inserts, as well as a new duvet cover, and pillow covers.
I borrowed my friend’s van and made another trip to the store to pick it up. Fortunately, it fit in there.
A close look! I love a deep tufted velvet headboard because of the dramatic effect it gives, but things are different now and this natural feeling headboard changed my bedroom into a look different than I had originally planned. Life is like that and we do our best in the given condition.
The room already looks much much better and I feel like I finally have my own room in this house to represent my personality and color. I smile and dance whenever I come into the room. Happy!!!
With no headboard up yet. There is plenty of natural light in so I’m not sure if I will like a tall headboard to cover half of the window. We’ll see.
The headboard and me. The headboard was missing a wood leg which I got an extra discount for, so I simply cut a wood strip to the size and glued it to the absent leg hole. It won’t be noticeable anyway, once the headboard is installed.
The headboard is up. The height of the bolt of the headboard and the height of the metal frame was different, so I removed 3 inches from the wooden legs of the headboard (including the one that I made) and then the holes were at a perfect height for the bolts.
It was better for me because with the lessened height, I could have more sun light yet keeping my privacy.
My side table. There will be some changes around here soon, but not until everything is settled.
His side. Some changes as well.
I’ll reveal my finished bedroom soon and I’m going to post the small and big progresses here before the final look is revealed.
I’m already out of my budget for the room, so I won’t be able to add more glamours to produce the look that I completely love, but I’ll figure out the way and do my best to make it work.
Can’t wait to share the beautifully completed bedroom with you soon. I’ll keep you on posted.
